Happy Friday peeps! Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately. With teaching classes and full marathon training my house looks like a bomb exploded in it. After 4 weeks I feel like I’m starting to get into a groove and get some normalcy back. My menu planning and food prepping has really helped during the last 2 weeks.
As I reflect on the past week, I can’t help but feel grateful and full of joy. So much has happened which is making me feel very optimistic about the future. You guys came out to my very first classes as Chocolate & Sanity and provided some great positive feedback. I seriously can’t wait to see where this journey will go, the women I will meet, the community that can be made and the lives that can be changed.
Have you ever wanted to wander into the land of the crazies and run a half marathon? Running long distance can sometimes come with unexpected situations. I’ve compiled a list of the 13.1 things no one tells you about running a half marathon.
Howdy Folks! It’s been a rough few days for me since I’ve been fight off a flu bug. I thought I was better on Monday but it hit me again yesterday. With race day just around the corner I’m a bit nervous I won’t recover in time. I’m just going take it one day at a time and really, I still have 4 days
Hey all! I had quite the weekend learning and grooving at my course. I have a lot of exciting stuff brewing and I’m feeling really passionate about the future. Be sure to stick around, I don’t want you to miss anything.
Today on the blog, I have a good friend, Carey talking about her online running groups. She and I met a few years ago at one of her running groups and have been friends ever since. She has since moved to Costa Rica and is pursuing her passion in health and fitness. I couldn’t be more proud of her and what to take this opportunity to share her story.
Hey guys! I just want to take a minute to talk about all the things I’ve been working on over here in the last little while. It has been a busy few weeks and I said I’d fill you in when the time was right. Well, that time is now!
With fall fast approaching, I decided to put together a list of the top fall runs within Winnipeg to keep us all motivated with some goals in mind. I’ve included a variety of distances so there’s something for everyone.
Hey all! I thought I’d give you an update on my knee/calf pain. Here’s a link to my last post where I talk about it. First off I haven’t run at all in over a week and a half, which is probably the hardest part. But on the plus side it does seem to be getting better. I went for a massage last Friday which I haven’t done in years and it felt amazing. I also went for an assessment at the physiotherapist and got treated. She thinks most likely the cause is really tight muscles in my hip, quad and calf. Her prescription is to heat, stretch and foam roll daily which I have been doing. Also she gave me a few isolated exercises to do to help strengthen my glutes and knee. I even managed to go to hot yoga yesterday which really stretched it out good. I have a physio appointment today and she said we would discus when I would be able to run again. I’ve got my fingers crossed it’s soon.
Okay ladies, today we are going to talk about something that is so damn important but is often missed in conversation. Your pelvic floor! What the heck is your pelvic floor? I’m sure at some point you have heard that it is normal for some new moms to have urinary incontinence issues after giving birth. Luckily there are exercises you can do to help improve this issue. This post might have a little bit of TMI for some of you but I’m hoping it sheds light on an important topic.
Hey all!! I know it’s been a while since I last posted. We had a fabulous vacation and it’s been tough getting back into the swing of things. Here are a few highlights from our week at the cabin. The boys had a blast swimming, fishing, biking and exploring. I can’t wait to go again next summer.
