Happy Friday peeps! Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately. With teaching classes and full marathon training my house looks like a bomb exploded in it. After 4 weeks I feel like I’m starting to get into a groove and get some normalcy back. My menu planning and food prepping has really helped during the last 2 weeks.
Howdy Folks! It’s been a rough few days for me since I’ve been fight off a flu bug. I thought I was better on Monday but it hit me again yesterday. With race day just around the corner I’m a bit nervous I won’t recover in time. I’m just going take it one day at a time and really, I still have 4 days

Today on the blog, I have a good friend, Carey talking about her online running groups. She and I met a few years ago at one of her running groups and have been friends ever since. She has since moved to Costa Rica and is pursuing her passion in health and fitness. I couldn’t be more proud of her and what to take this opportunity to share her story.
Hey guys! I just want to take a minute to talk about all the things I’ve been working on over here in the last little while. It has been a busy few weeks and I said I’d fill you in when the time was right. Well, that time is now!
Hey all!! I know it’s been a while since I last posted. We had a fabulous vacation and it’s been tough getting back into the swing of things. Here are a few highlights from our week at the cabin. The boys had a blast swimming, fishing, biking and exploring. I can’t wait to go again next summer.
I have to admit, I’m on a bit of a high from the my weekend workout. I’m so grateful I was able to get away and enjoy such an epic experience of mind, body and surf. As some of you know, Chad went away for a guys trip for the weekend and I had to find a sitter for the boys. But here’s the thing, I’m finally okay with that. It has taken me 6 years to get to this point but I’m finally here. I’m letting go of all the mommy guilt and control over the situation. I knew my boys were in great hands (it totally helps that our babysitter rocks) and I never stressed over them while I was gone. It was so liberating!! Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom but being a stay at home mom is a 24/7 job with no breaks. When I have small windows of opportunity to myself, well I take them. Whether it’s a short run in the evening or a whole weekend away, I’m learning to embrace them, guilt free. And no, that doesn’t make me a bad mom, quiet the opposite. My boys get to see me take time for myself being happy and enjoying life. I come back feeling energized and ready to deal with my crazy little life.
For this foodie Friday I thought I’d do something a little different. I want to share one of my favorite treat recipes instead. It was my birthday this past Tuesday and one of my best friends surprised me at the track and dropped off some goodies which included some monster cookies. They might be the key to my heart. I thought you would all love to see what all the hype is about and try them for yourself. They are by no means healthy but they are the most amazing treat ever and I believe everything can be enjoyed, in moderation of course. The monster cookie recipe can be found here. I usually half the recipe and use melted coconut oil instead of butter. If you do end up making them you can always drop a few off at my place, I wouldn’t mind at all.
