Long awaited Spaghetti squash lasagna Recipe

Hey all! Another week has flown by in the Sommerfield residence as summer is quickly winding down. I’ve had a bit of a crazy week and I’m barely staying afloat. Chad has been working lots and the kids are at each other’s throats. I’m sure your house has been the same at times. I think my kids like each other but when they have to spend 24/7 together things can get a bit nutty. I am soooo ready for school to start. Tell me I’m not alone on this one.

Birthday Cookies and Bucket Lists

For this foodie Friday I thought I’d do something a little different. I want to share one of my favorite treat recipes instead. It was my birthday this past Tuesday and one of my best friends surprised me at the track and dropped off some goodies which included some monster cookies. They might be the key to my heart. I thought you would all love to see what all the hype is about and try them for yourself. They are by no means healthy but they are the most amazing treat ever and I believe everything can be enjoyed, in moderation of course. The monster cookie recipe can be found here. I usually half the recipe and use melted coconut oil instead of butter. If you do end up making them you can always drop a few off at my place, I wouldn’t mind at all.

The Perfect Pre Workout Green Smoothie

This week has flown by and I have been enjoying every minute of it. Both boys are finally done school for the summer break which means a lot more fun. I intend to not take one second of this summer for granted. My boys are growing way to fast, soon they won’t think it’s cool to hang out with their mom.

Healthy Ground Turkey and Quinoa Stir Fry with Feta

This week I got the opportunity to practice yoga at the Goldeye’s stadium. It was a great event put on by lululemon where we got to practice yoga on the out on the baseball field before watching the Winnipeg Goldeye’s play ball. The money raised went to support a local charity, the field of dreams foundation With the grass beneath our toes and the sun setting in the distance it was such a calming experience. It was a great addition to my weekly routine because it’s race time!!! I will be running my 5th half marathon this weekend. And I get to run alongside my very best friend while she runs her first half. It’s going to be so amazing and fun. I have no time pressure or goal for the race which is a first for me. My mind set is totally different then it has been in the past for other races. I intend to relax and enjoy the race and cross the finish line smiling!

Weekly meal prep

Failure to plan, plan to fail. You have probably heard that a million times, so have I. I used to think it would be pointless for me to meal prep. I’m home with the boys all day and if I wanted to make something I could. Well we both know how that doesn’t happen. By the time I get the kids lunches made I’m starving and will eat just about anything in the fridge. Then one day I decide to give meal planning a go. BEST DECISION EVER! I have been doing it for about a year now and I love it. I feel way more organized and prepared. We eat better and spend less money (always a bonus).
