Happy Friday peeps! Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately. With teaching classes and full marathon training my house looks like a bomb exploded in it. After 4 weeks I feel like I’m starting to get into a groove and get some normalcy back. My menu planning and food prepping has really helped during the last 2 weeks.
Happy Friday!! I’ve had the most relaxing week recovering from my race last weekend. It’s been nice spending some quality time with the boys. Some of the highlights this week were we had a Halloween dance at their school (which was a blast!), we baked some cupcakes and enjoyed dressing up in our costumes and we decorated the front yard to get it all ready for Halloween next week. There is excitement in the air around here.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians! Fall is in the air with the falling leaves and the crisp air. You know what that means?! Pumpkins of course! Pumpkin fully encompasses everything that is fall. With Thanksgiving this weekend who doesn’t want a healthy pumpkin pie alternative. I came up with Hemp to the Heart Pumpkin Pie Bites that have the perfect amount of crunch that taste just like a bite of pie. I’m not going to lie; I could probably eat the whole batch. Lucky for the boys I decided to share.
Happy Friday!! The best news ever is that I passed the Fitness Theory exam!!! Now on to the next step which is the Group Resistance Training course. Starting tonight through the weekend I will be learning more about exercise and body movement. I’m so beyond excited! I can’t wait to start teaching classes and motivating women to be more active which has been a secret dream of mine for years. To see my dreams become a reality is so exhilarating I can’t even explain it. I’ll be keeping you post on how my course is going on Instagram (link) this weekend. Be sure to check it out and give me some words of encouragement along the way, I will need it.
Happy Friday folks! I can’t believe it’s already the weekend. Where did this week go? After a few crazy weeks I was finally able to unwind this week and take it easy. I was also able to catch up on house work and laundry. Thank goodness because it was starting to look like a mad house around here.
Happy Friday folks! I have been so busy this week working on some really exciting stuff that I will fill you in on shortly. So for this weeks foodie Friday I’m going to highlight some great healthy pumpkin treats that are great for fall.
Happy Friday folks! I’m happy it’s the weekend and what’s even better is that it’s a long weekend which includes my son’s birthday. I know we already celebrated last weekend but we still want to make his day extra special. We have plans to make a special breakfast then head to Bird’s Hill Park. The boys plan to bike around and play at the park while I run 9 miles with some friends. After my run we are going to hit up a local farmers market and browse around. The Pineridge Hollow farmers market (link) has a few animals to pet and live music so it should be a fun morning. After lunch the boys plan to build a big Lego set with Chad that Ashton got for his birthday. We will finish off the day making some homemade pizza and maybe have a bonfire.
Happy weekend all! I have yet another busy weekend full of birthday celebrations. We will be celebrating my youngest son Hudson’s 2nd birthday and my middle son Ashton’s 5th birthday on Sunday afternoon. We decided to combine their parties again this year because their birthdays are only two weeks apart and really who wants to have two parties that close together? It’s going to be a Ninjago themed party (for those of you without small boys in your life, that is a Lego ninja show). I tend to go a little overboard on decorating and themes when it comes to parties with my kids. It’s something I really enjoy and the boys love it. I have been prepping all week to get ahead of the weekend craziness. I’ve already made the piñata, filled the goodie bags and done all the shopping. Today I will be working on the cake. I do still have a few details to plan out but I’m really excited for the party. Stay tuned and I will post pictures on Monday from the party.
Hey all! Another week has flown by in the Sommerfield residence as summer is quickly winding down. I’ve had a bit of a crazy week and I’m barely staying afloat. Chad has been working lots and the kids are at each other’s throats. I’m sure your house has been the same at times. I think my kids like each other but when they have to spend 24/7 together things can get a bit nutty. I am soooo ready for school to start. Tell me I’m not alone on this one.

Hey all! I thought I’d give you an update on my knee/calf pain. Here’s a link to my last post where I talk about it. First off I haven’t run at all in over a week and a half, which is probably the hardest part. But on the plus side it does seem to be getting better. I went for a massage last Friday which I haven’t done in years and it felt amazing. I also went for an assessment at the physiotherapist and got treated. She thinks most likely the cause is really tight muscles in my hip, quad and calf. Her prescription is to heat, stretch and foam roll daily which I have been doing. Also she gave me a few isolated exercises to do to help strengthen my glutes and knee. I even managed to go to hot yoga yesterday which really stretched it out good. I have a physio appointment today and she said we would discus when I would be able to run again. I’ve got my fingers crossed it’s soon.
