Prairie Love Festival Day 1 Recap

I’ve sat down at the computer numerous times in the last couple of days to put into words my experience at the Prairie Love Festival but honestly there are no words. I left the festival on Sunday evening feeling beyond inspired. Inspired to be better, better at being a mom, better at being myself, better at chasing my real goals. It’s hard to pinpoint the moment that made me feel different, it was a combination of little things that came together to make magic.

13.1 reasons why the Seawheeze should be your next, or first, destination race!

Have you ever done a destination half marathon or dreamt about doing one? I was registered to run Seawheeze this year with one of my best friends but unfortunately I was unable to attend. I’m was super bummed but it is now on my bucket list to do one day and the reasons below make me want to do it even more. Sara was nice enough to put together at great list of why SeaWheeze is the race to run. She has run 13 half marathons and 2 of the 4 Lululemon SeaWheezes.

Love yourself enough for you time

I have to admit, I’m on a bit of a high from the my weekend workout. I’m so grateful I was able to get away and enjoy such an epic experience of mind, body and surf. As some of you know, Chad went away for a guys trip for the weekend and I had to find a sitter for the boys. But here’s the thing, I’m finally okay with that. It has taken me 6 years to get to this point but I’m finally here. I’m letting go of all the mommy guilt and control over the situation. I knew my boys were in great hands (it totally helps that our babysitter rocks) and I never stressed over them while I was gone. It was so liberating!! Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom but being a stay at home mom is a 24/7 job with no breaks. When I have small windows of opportunity to myself, well I take them. Whether it’s a short run in the evening or a whole weekend away, I’m learning to embrace them, guilt free. And no, that doesn’t make me a bad mom, quiet the opposite. My boys get to see me take time for myself being happy and enjoying life. I come back feeling energized and ready to deal with my crazy little life.

Healthy Ground Turkey and Quinoa Stir Fry with Feta

This week I got the opportunity to practice yoga at the Goldeye’s stadium. It was a great event put on by lululemon where we got to practice yoga on the out on the baseball field before watching the Winnipeg Goldeye’s play ball. The money raised went to support a local charity, the field of dreams foundation http://goldeyes.com/community/field-of-dreams-foundation/). With the grass beneath our toes and the sun setting in the distance it was such a calming experience. It was a great addition to my weekly routine because it’s race time!!! I will be running my 5th half marathon this weekend. And I get to run alongside my very best friend while she runs her first half. It’s going to be so amazing and fun. I have no time pressure or goal for the race which is a first for me. My mind set is totally different then it has been in the past for other races. I intend to relax and enjoy the race and cross the finish line smiling!
